Thanks Tracey and Chris.
Chris, I went to legal aid, they were great. They do have o make reasonable attempt to accommodate my needs. They have done everything so far they needed to, except listen to me when I asked to be exempt. The formal letters from them use the word 'inherent'.
They say that this new program is now inherent to the job.
Legal Aid aren't sure they could win a case that it is not 'inherent' in court, even though it wasnt inherent when I took the job.
Alternate duties? Courier involves lots of driving and lifting. Stores? Nope. Call enquiries and booking management? No thing that does not involve lots of computer use. I'm stuffed really.
reduced hours is probably the answer. treatment, management, and reduced hours. When the ecollect comes in to my rooms in dec/jan..that will be the test.
I may well chuck it in before then, as I am extremely stressed right now. After all, this was my retrain job after cancer.
maybe God is trying to tell me something? :D :badpc:
hope you and tracey are doing ok out there!! :hugs: :hugs:
will ask for those scans..ta girls.

ditto to what Tracey said, scans a must. All the lymphodema stuff sounds sore and painful. re work, don't they have to place you into something suitable if this sort of thing happens?
Take care and good luck

Winterlong you have definately had a trying time lately. I think for peace of mind ct scans and a bone scan are a good idea. It is hard going for scans but when they come back all clear it will be well worth it. Best wishes.

Wow, Winterlong, you sure do have a lot happening. I'm sorry that you are going through such a stressful time at the moment. It can be really frustrating when our bodies let us down, especially when it's caused by outside influences like working conditions.
I hope your rib pain settles soon and your surgeon can put your mind at ease. We certainly become more acutely aware of the aches and pains that we experience following a bc diagnosis, don't we?

Gentle hugs to you, :hugs:

Hi Winterlong,
It sounds very stressful and worrying. I hope it all works out ok and you get some scans to alleviate the worry. Please let us know how it all goes. :hugs:

Work has been very unfair and now left you with a worsened chronic condition

Oh dear what a terrible time you are having. I'm glad that you are getting help with your work issues, doesn't really seem fair to change the job on your like that and I would have thought that they could accommodate you somehow.

I think I would be asking for scans with your background and I am surprised that they haven't ordered them. Actually I probably wouldn't because I am a stick my head in the sand type of person lol.

I hope you get it sorted out soon.

Hiya gals,
a bit has been going on for me. (no..not recurrence so relax!!) :)
Some of you may be aware I've had lymphoedema in left arm since 2002/3.I've adjusted to it really well.. able to work 20hour weeks as pathology nurse, manage most tasks etc. I wear a sleeve when it gets heavy and that's it.
Anyway..they introduced this new program at work, which meant basically we had to do data entry job as well as path nurse job..I wrote letters to ask for exemption from it as left arm blew up after 4 hours training.
They said no, but sent injury management dude around to make adjustments. These helped my left arm quite a bit. However..over the next few months
yep.
the right arm slowly and steadily worsened.
I am now dx'd with lymphoedema of right arm as well. this is a chronic condition and must be managed. They decided to move me to the last place that will get this new program, giving me, 6months left in the job!! I loved my work place, and we were a great team.
Was I a tad cross?
errr...youbetcha I was. :grr: (9 years with this company!!!)
I found out yesterday I am accepted into Work safe, which is handy. They will pay for my compression sleeves, massage and private treatment at a lymphoedema clinic. (I am currently with Monash Lymph. Clinic.) Very, very slow to get help.
So that is good. I have been off work for 3 weeks now. My GP said I had to stop until I got the new sleeves, which came today. As you can imagine, all the things I used to do to compensate my left arm have gone. I canno longer do household lifting and shopping with right arm as it aches so much. The left arm is consistently worse due to compensating with i for the right. The right is newly aching and swollen. Bloody horrible! I feel like a cripple right now. Arms are important aren't they. (I know relatively this is not so bad...truly I do. )
I will be seeing an occ. rehab specialist team to get me back to at least a bit of work, but I am to be paid 95 per cent of what I was earning for awhile. I will find out more soon.

meanwhile...yes..it goes on!! (sorry!) :D
I have had intense rib pain for nearly 2 months. Had xray from chiro. Showed nothing in ribs..thought it might be a stress fracture, or arthritis??
However did show a nodule 9x4mm seeming to be 'left lung or anteroposterior wall. CT chest recommended'.
Had PET april.15th, post melanoma. it showed a couple of nodes, but seemingly due to post surgery.
So..because of rib pain( stabbing after some movement..or dull ache on other days)I am seeing Surgeon on Tuesday. Thinking to ask for bone and CT snan? (suggestions?)
I need peace of mind! This plus two very close friends both have partners with stage 4 now. One brain cancer, one B.C.
Awful few months tbh.
(olympics good though! :D )
thanks for reading. :hugs:  (gigantic sook over...daughter o/seas and knows none of this) :rose:
winter.
