Gail the Xeloda and Tykerb play havoc with the skin on your hands and feet. It cracks really easily and gets a bit blistery which then doesn't heal too well due to chemo etc. I have never looked at my feet so much in my life.

 hi again :grouphug:
They agreed I should keep taking anti-inflams, Panadol, use wet towels, steroid cream, bepanthen, sleeping tablet at nit to sleep, etc.. I have swelling over the breast bump /expander and into my left upper arm, getting a muffin look at the top of the compression sleeve!
They are checking me again on Monday as I have two dodgy spots.
So many of you have gotten through it, I will too. Can't wait until its over.
I hope my skin won't be too bad after it all, it seems rather thin over the expander, and very taut and tight across into my armpit.

 when I was going through radiation, and the burns got bad,the nurse would wash it in the saline then put cream and a piece of glad wrap to cover the area and that would stay on till the next morning, I remember that helped with healing....Rosa

Why do you need it Chris? Just as a moisturizer?

Slightly off topic (!) but i am heading out to Doncaster Westfield to spend up on MooGoo as my closest Westfield doesn't have Moogoo in any store and i want to use my gift card for it. Lots of chemists have it and health food shop. I wasn't taken by it initially but now i love it.

Silvazene creme is the best but only when the skin breaks down and is raw. They use for burns victims. I feel so sorry as I had the same , but only 2 weeks after finishing started to heal. :hugs:

Oh dear Struth, my  pores out to you :hugs:
Unfortuntely I have not had :rads: just yet, but when I get sunburnt I put fresh aloe vera on and its the bees knees :)
Moogoo is very good, my daughter has had rashes from normal every day creams so I started her on Moogoo and it's fantastic, cream made out of goats milk I think. My local chemist sells Moogoo and I live in the country!
Well hopefully when you read my message you would have seen the doctor and given you some good news about something else to help you :hugs:

Thanks everyone :grouphug:
Tracey, I have a sore throat too, and yes my sensation is reduced over my bump and left armpit, thank goodness, but I guess all the more to be vigilant.
It's the tightness into my armpit and breast area and feeling of pressure I suspect it's the swelling. And its warmish, I took some orudis anti-inflam and temazepam to sleep last night. I just had a moment last night of despair I think. :sniff:
I'm much better mood wise today, having some decent sleep and the day off :rads: has helped. And having a wet washer on/off the skin has helped too.
I don't have any aloe vera handy (they told me at hospital to not use it due to risk of bacteria??) but have been using bepanthen, steroid and the comodogenic sorbalene they have given me.... Now they are in the fridge! I will keep my eye open for some moogoo !

Struth I didn't have rds but have read a lot. I am using Moogoo for my Xeloda /Tykerb hands and feet which I love. I saw on their website that they have had good feedback from people who have used it for rads. Hope you can improve soon and up the pain meds.

Struth I used the fresh aloe Vera as well and kept the cream cold. You could try an antimflammatory like nurafen. I have very little sensation under my arm so even though I had terrible burns from rads they didn't hurt. My oesophagus was affected so they did give me a lignocaine gel to gargle and oxynorm. So definitely speak to the rads doctor on Friday because they will have something else to offer you. Even though my skin broke down quite considerably it did heal really quickly. I have had rads three times now and the last few are always the worst because the effects are cumulative. You may also find that for a couple of days after you finish the skin gets worse before it gets better.
Sending you a hug Tracey
