Thanks for your post Judy and sorry about your fb friends who are struggling, as are some where. A good word of advise to all of us who feel like we have 'moved on'. We just never know and it's not all about BC.
We all need to value every day we are blessed with. I hope the wedding is a special time for you.

Re: Gynaecological Cancer Awareness
judy. It's tough witnessing others die of cancer, especially young women, as we know too well on this forum sadly. I glad Carrie has the support of women like yourself. Cancer sucks!

Re: Gynaecological Cancer Awareness
that's very sad Judy, yes I agree all cancer is bad,but before we went through this journey we simply didn't know at least me,I think. Even now with lots of people who are blissfully unaware of what others go through, what cancer does and how it turns your life upside down, some people think just loosing your hair through chemo is the worst thing to experience ....Rosa

Judy,
I'm so glad you posted your message here. So many cancers don't get the same amount of support, publicity and funding that BC does. Those suffering Stage 4 cancer regardless of where it started deserve so much support.
I can understand your anger and hurt. After 10 years on this forum, it never gets any easier losing members or knowing that their disease is progressing. Judy I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Re: Gynaecological Cancer Awareness
very sad post Judy but you are right in bringing awareness to this and also stating that all cancer is serious - there isn't a good one ever!!!

Gynaecological Cancer Awareness
Today is one of those days in my uterine cancer facebook page group. We have one of our younger members in hospice expected to die probably today if not by the end of another week. This girl Carrie never got the chance to have children due to this disease. When I was going through treatment I would pop on to Facebook each day and every day there would be a new photo of Carrie with a big smile on her face, or more often than not a bit of a cheeky smirk. At the time I didn't realise that she was stage IV. She not only had to look after herself but she also cared for her mother who is ill as well. At the same time we are hearing about Karen who is also stage IV and has just been told that the cancer has invaded her spleen and her doctor will need to speak to other doctors to see if they have any idea of what can be done to help her. Karen has a young daughter.
These are just two of the women who belong to this FB page, it is full of women of all ages. Many have surgery, no more treatment necessary and move on which is great but so many of these women are young and will never have the chance now to have children. Many also are at advanced stages and the disease will take them eventually.
My point here is to implore you all to please don't think that uterine cancer is one of the 'good' ones to get, it's not! I know you will all understand where I am coming from and I am preaching to the converted but stupidly I used to think that uterine cancer was one of the 'good' ones and that was after I got breast cancer. This ridiculous attitude of mine was nurtured by a gynecological oncologist and I will never understand to this day why he let me believe this was the case. It is very dangerous to underestimate the power of cancer, any cancer. I am just very angry
My hope is that all women will be aware of all gynecological cancers as they are breast cancer. Pap smears are for cervical cancer, not ovarian or uterine and we need to be conscious of any changes in our periods, bloated tummies, unexplained pain etc. Put your embarrassment aside and get yourself checked.
Sorry I am rambling, just a horrible day in my uterine cancer world. I am ok, I am a year from diagnosis and all is still looking ok.
I am now going to push it aside and concentrate on the good things in life like my niece's wedding day.
