Hi Sammo,
Welcome to the forum
Some great words of wisdom here I, too, was dx in 07 and am considered to be young (41 at the time) and I have 3 children. I went through all same chain of events- preapring my will/funeral/photos/momentos etc.....it is all quite upsetting to say the least, as Sam said it's a mothering thing to do- how can I protect my babies and all the ppl I love and cherish.
Yes surgery is tough & treatment is no breeze but all of it is doable- Everyone reacts differently to treatment. I have done the works and am here to tell the tale. There are a lot of women who were dx earlier and still doing so well.
Please ask us anything- there is no "silly" question here. I hope you can get your wife to join in as well- we are a great supportive close knit family
It is great to see another partner join this forum- you are one great person & it is so obvious you are a caring and concerned partner- hugs to you
Good luck

Hi Sammo, i am glad you have found this forum and i hope you wife will join in as well. I am afraid that the C word still scares the pants of people but once over the initial shock, you will start the fight to win and you will. There are many survivors of breast cancer on this forum and if you look back at past posts when they were first diagnosed, you will read very familiar stories to what you are experiencing right now. Please talk to us, tell us anything you want and i hope you get the support, information and assurances you need. Don't think that because you are a man you must be the strong one and keep all your emotions inside. If there are times you may not want to talk about your feelings to your family, come to the forum and let it all out.
Onward and Upward

Hi Sammo,
I'm exactly the same age as your wife, also with 2 daughters.
I was diagnosed in Sept 07 (seems like a life time ago now) and have been where you all are now!
I just wanted to say to you that what your wife is going thru (wills and photos) is perfectly normal and a mother/nurturing/carer reaction. I did exactly the same, professional family portrait, new wills, insurance all of that. I think it was something that just helped me cope better and kept me occupied. It all sounds very familiar.
You WILL get thru this, its amazing how resilient you become and you just "go with the flo" so to speak. You do whatever it takes to get to the other side!
You could even see if your wife wants to join us and ask us ANYTHING!! I can honestly say that I found this site more helpful and supportive that ANY OTHER thing around!
Good luck with everything guys!
Love Sam xx

So pleased you found this forum. Ladies on here are all at different stages and had different forms of bc; so I am sure there will be someone with very similar diagnoses to that of your wife who can relate immediately to her bc. As Janine has said; please do not give up hope. There is sooooo much treatment that can be offered nowdays. None of it is "fun"; but all "doable" and the end results are well worth it. Your little children will have their Mum [I feel sure] for many a year yet. to you both at this time.
Stage 1; Grade 11; bc. ER/PR positive; lumpectomy and rads. Finished 5yrs of tamoxifen on 1/11/10

Hi Sammo and welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. It certainly is a very scary time and even more difficult with such young children.
While it's good (for anyone) to get organised with wills and things, don't give up hope just yet. There are many women with similar diagnoses who go on to live good long lives. Your wife is in for a rough ride for a while with surgery and treatment but she will get through it and so will you.
Do you have family and friends around to support and help you?

Wife just diagnosed ?!?!?
Hi,
My wife (aged 39) has just had a core biopsy on her left breast, which revealed that she has a 'infiltrating ductal carcinoma NOS' and a mass has also been found in her lymph nodes.
The pathology reports also details that the carcinoma is 'high grade'. The ultra sound showed the main mass is about 35mm by 28mm and an irregular shape.
Due to us being in the country, it is hard getting to a specialist, so she has to wait a few days to get in for an urgent masectomy.
We have two wonderful daughters', aged 5 years and 18 months, so of course, we are reluctantly thinking of the worse case scenario and starting to plan...
How do we prepare ourselves for this...
How am I expected to raise my girls without their mother...
You know it is full-on when your wife starts organising the family will and wants photos taken with the girls...
