Hi Lou,
I had a unilateral tram with tweaking to my other breast 3 months ago. My surgeon had back me in underwired bras from my first appointment with her which was 10 days post surgery, she says it helps to shape the breast mound. I had no pain in either breast so this was not an issue. I wore my binder every day till 8 weeks post surgery, and sometimes even now if I have had a big day, I get a bit achy by the evening so I put it on & it really helps.
Good luck, take it easy and enjoy the cleavage.
Sue

Hi Lou......my DIEP was 18 months ago now & I'm pretty sure I wore the surgical bra for 6 weeks......took me awhile to get rid of the tummy binder though
If I remember correctly, my PS told me to wear the surgical bra for 6 weeks & then I was allowed to wear whatever I wanted but i went with the Ahh Bra for a while till I got my confidence back
Do whatever makes you feel comfy
Hope you're feeling ok

Re: Wearing bra for first time after DIEP/TRAM?
It depends a lot on whether you had two breasts done or not too. I had my good boob worked on as well so didn't really need a bra, I wore soft singlets for a lot of my treatment including the DIEP.

Each case would feel different I image, depending on how you are healing. With my complications I only wore loose clothing not requiring a bra for many weeks and then wore the ahh bras. It's great that you are feeling ready after two weeks

Lou I can't remember how long after my DIEP before I wore a bra but it was a fair bit longer than two weeks. I doubt it was before I went back to work and I had six weeks off for that operation. I can't remember if I wore one when I went back to work but pretty sure I must have. Just do whatever is the most comfortable for you.

Wearing bra for first time after DIEP/TRAM?
Hi ladies,
This will sound weird but did anyone feel odd about putting a bra on for first time after surgery? I had DiEP flap done 2 weeks ago, still lying round in bed/on couch watching DVDs but thinking about getting dressed properly seems bit odd?
I have the post surgery Berlie bra, which I wore after my mastectomy, and I have an Ahhh bra too, maybe it's the big tummy incision and binder I have to wear that's making me feel so odd.
Any suggestions?
