Waiting still
Re: Waiting still
Chris,
That is really wonderful news. There is always an uncertainty in my mind while waiting for surgery of when it will crop up and will it suit. It's just a good feeling not to be on waiting list. You certainly deserve to be free of anticipating surgery.
I'm glad you like your DD's bf and enjoyed their visit.

Re: Waiting still
Well.........how things change in a week. I had a wonderful time with my DD and her gorgeous boyfriend (met for the first time ) he is a sweetie and I happily sent her back to NSW knowing she had him to look out for her.
Back to work this week, preparing for prolapse surgery on Friday BUT had a call from Frankston Hospital telling me I can finally get my tummy patched up next Tuesday! So prolapse surgery postponed to January, and 2 weeks leave booked, hoping it's enough as I just took a week to be with DD.
Heard a horror story about prolapse repair today. Why do people feel the need to share these? A lot to come but looking forward to being whole again

Re: Waiting still
Gosh Chris, it is all happening in the next few months for you. It is a shame about Sydney. Just think, in six months time, you will be going, thank goodness, all done! And you will feel like brand new! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Re: Waiting still
I hadn't even thought about that yet Chris. No, I wont be there this year, the first one I've missed since joining 4 years ago lots of photos please girls!
I'm told I'll have 3-4 days in hospital, then no driving for 3 weeks, no lifting more than 2 liters for 6 weeks and onwards. Helping DH lift plaster sheets this year probably didn't help

Re: Waiting still
I started teaching in 1980 so I have lots of long service leave MD. I could take 12 months off if needed I think. That doesn't worry me, I'm lucky to have it. I feel bad for my class, the best bunch of kids I've had in a few years. But I would rather get it all over with this year
The recovery for this surgery is up to 6 weeks he said, I can't drive for 3 weeks

Re: Waiting still
Chris, can you hit your work up for some sort of consideration/discretionary sick leave. Sometimes they'll find another week out of the goodness of their hearts if you ask nicely. Seems a shame to be using your long-service...

Re: Waiting still
Well, I bit the bullet and booked vaginal repair for Oct 19th. No hysterectomy at this stage as uterus is well supported, just big bulge in rear of vagina and smaller prolapse in the front ( sorry if tmi)
I could have had the 8th but that would mean no chance to do anything special with DD. She spent 3weeks in hospital with me last year. I didn't want to risk waiting in case it got worse and with the other surgery looming, it could be tricky.
I should be recovered just in time for the next surgery! luckily I have used very little long service leave so have heaps on call. Very little sick leave left after chemo and Tram Flap last year.

Re: Waiting still
Gosh Chris that's such a lot to deal with all around the same time, but I guess it could be good to get it all done and dusted over a single term, with long holidays for recuperation - lots of disruption all at once but then it's done. Make sure you discuss the other surg. with each of the specialists, so they know the thing they're doing is not the only thing you're dealing with, and how much of a juggle it will be for you. It does the docs good sometimes to remember we're human people with actual lives .
