Thanks for the update, sounds good so far. I had fibro cystic disease and it was painful. Hurt when I walked at times.
Good to get the checks done. The worry alone can drag you down but a FBC is good. Hoping for good results from the Breast Surgeon.

Re: Superficial Lump
Hey Ladies, hope you are both well.
I thought I would just give a bit of an update. I saw my BS and he sent me off for a mammogram, u/s and a core biopsy. I had the first 2 on Tuesday and I of course peeked at the results. The lump is measuring 1cm bigger and differential diagnosis for this lesion is a fibroadenoma, which I have been told is a benign tumour but they still want me to do the core biopsy tomorrow. Also I had to go back to my go today who ordered a FBC because I have been feeling extremely weak and tired for the last week. Will update you guys on the 19th when I go back to BS for results. Thanks xx

Re: Superficial Lump
Hey guys, thank you so much for the reply. I am quite confident I am in good hands, thank you But the lump in not painful at all, it's my nipple. Although the lump is right under my nipple, I can grab and touch the lump no problem, but my nipple feels like its on fire I have had the lump for around 3 months with no pain, only the last week. The needle thing will determine if its fluid or not, but because it's superficial (not deep in the tissue) which is why doc is sending me to a breast surgeon because although he is quite confident it's not BC he has a little bit of concern because it's growing quite quickly.
Thanks guys xx
Thanks guys xx

Hi Tam Tam,
Welcome to the forum.
I'm glad your Dr has referred you to a specialist. It sounds unusual but needs investigation as lumps do. Possibly a fine needle aspiration to determine if there is fluid.
It sounds like you are in good hands. Try not to panic. I used to get cysts and they are very painful and my BC wasn't painful. Let us know how you go.

Re: Superficial Lump
You are doing the right thing by going to a breast surgeon. He may do a fine needle aspiration (google it!) Thats what my surgeon did. They take a sample and get it sent for path. Most lumps are benign or as your Dr. says it may be a cyst. It's encouraging that you had an u/s as if it was anything that needed immediate attention it should have shown up then.
Best to get it checked out by a specialist.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Superficial Lump
Hi Hope everyone is well.
3 months ago, i felt a lump under my left areola. I had no pain with it so I went to my GP to get it checked. He sent me for an U/S which showed 3 possiable things, a subcutaneous node, sebaceous cyst or a fibroma. So my doctor sat down with me and explained that they actually couldn't tell if it was a cyst because they couldn't tell if the lump was fluid filled or not. He also told me that I shouldn't have anything to worry about. 2 months have now passed since then and the lump is now the size of my areola and my nipple is quite painful. where my nipple is has changed shaped and kinda looks like it is being sucked inwards. No other symptoms, no fever, just lump, sore and sucked in nipple. My doc made an appointment with a breast surgeon next week to get checked properly. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation? and what your outcome was. Thank you.
I might add that the reason that my doctor thinks there is nothing wrong because my lump is superficial so its just there on the surface under my areola.. not deep in the tissue like a "typical" cancerous breast lump
