Re: Sister just diagnosed with DCIS cancer
Thanks Ruth, it hadn’t gone to her lymph glands the surgeon has not been able to remove it all. They told her she has to have chemo first and then a masectomy. D C chemo once every 3 weeks for 12 weeks then Paciltexal once a week for 12 weeks together with a hormone treatment. Does this sound normal?

Re: Sister just diagnosed with DCIS cancer
Hi Beebee, sorry to hear you and your family are having to deal with all this - cancer is a devastating diagnosis not only for the patient but the family as well. DCIS is usually contained in the milk ducts and not in the lymph glands but your sister must be a rare one with lymph glands involved. Its not easy when the first round of surgery isn't complete and then more follows. When is she having the mastectomy? Are you in a major city or rural and what age is your sister?

Sister just diagnosed with DCIS cancer
My sister was initially diagnosed with DCIS that was removed about 3 weeks ago. At the time she was told it was stage 2 and was told she would have radiation. They took the first lot of lymph glands while doing a lumpectomy. She Went back 10 days later and was told that there was more cancer cells there so more surgery. Which she had 20 days ago. Yesterday st her check she was told they hadn’t got all of the cancer and she had to start a regime of chemo for 12 weeks once a week and then continue for another 6 months she also has to have a mastectomy. It is so overwhelming for her and for her family.
