Edit: "Breast" mucinous carcinoma, not "great" mucinous carcinoma. :ouch:

Just diagnosed and freaking out.

Hi - I'm a 44 year old married mum of two from Brisbane.

"The tumour is positive for GATA-3 consistent with a great primary mucinous carcinoma. P65 and SMMS-1 confirm the absence of a myoepthielial layer. The tumour is strongly positive for ER (100%, strong)" further reports on PR and Her2 to follow.

Waiting now for an appointment with the hospital.

My worries are that I have been quite sick with fatigue, joint pain, rashes and IBS for about 6 years now, which more or less started with me going into premature menopause. I felt the rash spread last year that caused the breast lump and it's definitely in my other breast too. Well before the rash hit my breasts, it has already struck my neck, ribcage (back), stomach, arms, jaw, in fact my breast was the last spot. Everywhere it's been it's left damage either joint pain or muscle pain or sore bones or muscle turned into cellulite. When it hits I can literally feel it crawl across my skin and looks to me but not the doctors like shingles. My doctors (which I have changed twice and included a specialist GP as well the last two years) hadn't diagnosed, which I presumed was because I was heading for a diagnosis of Parkinson's or similar. Now I'm wondering if I had a pre-cancer syndrome. There is a really harsh cancer on my dad's side of the family, my grandma and great grandma died of MM. There have been no signs of malignancy in my blood work that they have told me about, but I know they look for patterns and a lot of complex stuff I don't know about. In some ways it's lucky I finally got hit in an organ men find important or I'd still be trudging on. Of course, it could be a cancer existing by coincidence and I'm completely wrong, which would be awesome, but I'd like a scan to find out first and I'm really worried they won't let me have one because I don't have private insurance.

Will they give me a PET scan or something to check the rest of my body for cancers BEFORE they lop off my boob? My doctor said they hardly ever do lumpectomies anymore. I don't want to cut into myself at the first lump they find in case it's just the tip of the iceberg or will simply recur.

Am I right in thinking from my browsing of the net that most cancers can be staged at ultrasound point, and they already know the stage of my cancer they are just waiting for a specialist to confirm it or something? Isn't it different in the US and Canada? Why not do the same here?

Finally, could they have mistaken a plasmacytoma for a mucinous carcinoma?

Thanks for any replies or insights, particularly into the test results. I look forward to getting to know you all here.
