see this is the hard question - just how far to go???? What about the famous women that did everything the natural way and still got BC -one died and one owns a health resort and that's just 2 that spring to mind. WL maybe I will continue my bad habits - god knows life has small pleasures only these days. I'm too tired and cant afford holidays, I don't party, I don't travel, I don't socialise much (my choice) and I battle every day as we all do. Sex is so far in the past I cant remember it and I barely drink alcohol. Cant wait to get my hands on some cannabis oil hehe!!! (when its legal). I do totally agree with eating as much organic food as possible and I do avoid processed chemical rubbish except for the occasional lapse with sweets. Dairy is hard to stop too as I love yoghurt and cheeses. I am going to a Cancer Survivor Centre next week and will be seeing a dietician so I will be asking lots of questions regarding all this and just how effective it is.

Janette and Sam - knowledge is power and essential especially dealing with BC.

Yep- There is a saying in the natural horsemanship world- "You don't know what you don't know until you know it"! I think to stop learning is to stop living

Being peaceful in what you do and eat has to be beneficial in a lot of ways. The more we know shows how much we don't know. :hugs:

Lol Winter  You cannot be a nazi about these things- I have found being relaxed and embracing it has made it so easy.
I am pretty sure my BC originates from genetics as I found out 2 years ago that I had a different "real Dad" to my siblings- 2 aunties, my grandma, and a niece that I know of had breast cancer - :crybaby:

absolutely sam! all strengthening of our immune systems is good. :hugs:
lemon juice reduces acidity in the system and is great. I chuck it on everything, and always put it in my water too.
It doesn't sound like your cancer would be environmentally caused and of course I was just advocating that as so many of us have it from unknown causes...the great diet can only go so far.
I admit I now allow myself to indulge in whatever food takes my fancy..good quality..
but hey, I've changed my philosophy a fair bit. :hugs:

FYI A bit of info on Kale-
http://40daysofstudy.com/2013/03/06/kale-raw-vs-cooked/

Please note- There is no expectation of being cured by this diet- BUT proof in the pudding yesterday that having a healthy system is extremely beneficial for all kinds of things - emotional, mental and physical.
Also warm water with some lemon juice is great according to my acupuncture lady .

Hi Sam,
that is a fabulous way to eat.
I was on a mainly raw food diet many years ago, and for quite some time.
I read lots of inspiring books around it too. The books were great motivation around it, and I learnt a lot.
When I was pregnant, back in 1993/1994. I was doing quigong, eating bio dynamic/organic food, yoga, good books for the mind and spirit, and even nude salt water swimming in a candlelit pool with other pregnant women and their partners. It was the best way to get a good nites sleep in your third trimester.
Yep, I did it all, and ha a wonderful quick and easy birth.
Imagine my shock when in 2002 I was dx'd with cancer in both breasts (1st time)
Me?????? But..but..I did everything right!! I read the books, I ate right, I watched my thoughts blah blah blah...
hah!! what a humbling lesson that was.
and to make matters worse...I endured all sorts of veiled and not so subtle comments from folks about how I must have done something..unlike their good selves, who for instance (a hairdresser..) ate salads so would not get cancer. :D :sniff:
Anyway, I continue to eat well, and a after the next recurrence, a year later, I double efforts with diet, and yoga, and meditation, which all help, and calm you, and strengthen your immune system.
I wondered if the pill might have caused cancer, from my twenties, or the deodorant back then..or
well, on and on, and read a lot more...but now I was reading books on cancer and people who had had cancer, and then did diets, and it didn't come back..and....on and on..
yeah.
What I want to say to you is, you might never know what caused your cancer..
It might be a genetic flaw we don't know about yet.
A great diet and healthy mindset will always help and strengthen you, and your immune system
BUT.......
Please, please please don't think it will cure you.
There is not a cure for cancer....yet. :-)
Mine came back again in 2012. and, guess what, a completely different pathology! wtf??
While my spiritual side continues to develop, I really don't bother too much these days with raw food, save for green smoothies most days. :) A good squeeze of lemon is also great to add to those.
I use my intuition on what I want to eat.
I don't know what will happen next but I have come to greatly admire and respect the surgeon and oncologists who look after me. I know they are untiring and dedicated in serving us, and keeping us alive as long as possible.
Not saying I'd do chemo again, but..I do think if I'd had no treatments, I'd be long dead by now.
Just my personal experiences here..
 :hugs:

Mornings/ breaky
In your smoothie maker- (vitamix/ Ninja/ bullet etc)
Shot of Flax seed oil
2tbsn Hemp seeds from the health food shop or internet (My Dr says New Zealand ones are best)
Choose from the following- mango/ melon/ pineapple/ peaches etc (if out of season canned is fine, sugar free and not in syrup)
Activated sprouts - so just soak over night and add. I am using mung beans at the moment-
Handful of Baby spinach/ kale/ tops of celery/ cos lettuce any other soft greens you like
This will fill you up pretty much till lunch time- I was amazed! Make sure you shjooz it up till nice and smooth.

Lunch
Raw Salad- I am just becoming creative :) Make a dressing with lemon juice, garlic and flax seed oil
OR
Vegie juice from your cold press juicer- I got mine on the Kogan website for $79- Not as good as the really exxy ones, but it will do for now.
Beetroot/ kale/ ginger/carrot/apple/pear/celery/pineapple/ turmeric/ passionfruit/cucumber/ tomato/ sweet potato/ flax seed oil
melon cabbage ..... Whatever really.

Dinner-
what ever you like, but minimal meat. NO fatty takeaway - And NO PROCESSED FOOD - that is anything in a packet with numbers you don't understand on the back LOL
I have been having things like omelette with kale, grated carrot and baby spinach with whatever herbs and spices you like or
Tbone (a bit cut off hubbys) with mashed sweet potato and loads of fresh cooked veg -
stir fry veggies with a small amount of brown rice.
Honestly I am not hanging out for any bread, butter (my biggest downfall in the past), jams cakes ANYTHING!

I have found my appetite for rubbish has diminished and I am having black tea with a stevia in it and a little bit of very dark choccy at night- I do think you need to be ok with yourself having a splurge, but honestly I reckon you wont feel like cake etc!!!!
