What a lovely daughter you are Mish. You are doing a great job of supporting your mum. I imagine it would be so hard for you at times so please make sure you take time out for yourself when you can. I have to chuckle about my daughter who is now 40. All of a sudden she turned into my mum when I was first Dx. But I think she sees that I am a big girl now and looking after myself as she would want. :) And because I have done the chemo & rads so that is a worry behind all of us.
Anyway I think you are doing great. :rose:
Cheers Lyn

dont be hard on yourself Mish - I remember feeling the same when I was caring for my Mum. Its a tough gig doing this and not enough care is given to the carers. No simple answers so you just keep on keeping on. Funnily enough my Mum wasnt touchy feely either. This time of year makes everything harder. Will be pleased when its over. You are doing a fantastic job Mish - things would be much tougher for your Mum but for you and your Dad. Hope he is holding up too. Men often dont verbalise and suffer in silence. None of us are equipped for this bloody disease so we just do the best we can. I'm sure she will be soooo pleased to come home today.

Hey Ruth Thank you for asking very sweet of you. I am okay which means not great but managing, Mum is not a touchy feely kind of person and all I want to do is give her a big hug or just hold her hand, I think she would freak if I did that!! Just emotional at the moment this time of year doesn't help either, we always seem to get bad news about Mums BC this time of year. I feel like a bit of a knob really cause Mum is the one going through BC and I am the one falling apart. Anyhoo enough of my feeling sorry for myself. Dad and I are seeing the Breast Care nurse on Monday and I think that will help. Mish

Janette - better change units and get some good lookers haha!!! - thats wonderful that you are a firey. A woman of many talents.

Mish, the slowly approach is prob best but do let your Mum know how much we would all love to get to know her. As a person with BC i am sooo grateful to all the ladies here who have helped me through very difficult times. These have been times when family and friends really couldnt give advice cos they are not the ones experiencing the probs. Its amazing how much of a support it is to have someone post that that they have felt the same or they have had the same prob and what they did to fix it. By way of good example, after my last chemo I broke out in painful blisters that just happened to be in an area not easily mentioned. OMG it was sooo uncomfortable and I was quite distressed. My poor brain couldnt function through the fog of the treatment so I had no idea what to do but a post on here fixed the prob - nappy rash cream!!!! Perfect - great result and fast - bliss!!! Funny when I think back to it now but just one of many probs solved on here. Tell your Mum she needs to be here just in case - never know what you might need and when haha.

Morning Ruth still working on her slowly slowly with Mum she is coming home on Saturday (currently at my sisters while doing Rads) so will be able to sit down with her then and show her the forum. If she is discussing it with other people means she is getting used to the idea. Mish

Morning Mish, waiting rooms are strange places - chemo one for me always had something funny going on. Eye candy has got to be a good distraction. Any chance of your Mum getting on here herself yet???

Funny story via Mum - said she was in the waiting room waiting for her rads today. A lady comes in looks at everyone then says to the lady next to Mum so what are you here for, the lady says bowel cancer, then she asks Mum she says secondary BC and then this woman proceeds to have a discussion with them about her cancer and treatments etc. Mum thought it was hilarious! It did come up in discussion that the lady with bowel cancer was having chemo and rads at the same tiime, Mum said well my daughter is on a BC forum and they said to me to eat every two hours to help with the nausea the lady said thanks will go home and try that!

Brought Mum the Firefighters 2013 calender for Xmas now that is eye candy
