Re: WEEKEND & EVERYDAY CATCHUPS

lol Janette....no he didn't! It was interesting (for him!) to price some of the vintage guitars that he has in his collection though. There are some serious collectors in Japan and some of the prices were huge. Nice to wake up to a bit of rain today, though my son did a surprisingly good job of keep...

Re: A new chapter

Hi Nicochick We have another new member Brabarb who has just had a double mastectomy and recon because of testing positive to the Braca gene. I have replied to her on her thread. I have had a double mastectomy but this was a long time ago. I didn't have enough fat to do the diep procedure mentioned ...

Re: WEEKEND & EVERYDAY CATCHUPS

Well sorry I have been missing in action but those of you on Face Book will know I've been in Japan for the past few weeks. What an amazing country! The people are so polite....every time we stopped to look at a map someone would come over and offer to help us. One lady gave us some complicated dire...

Re: Newbie Brca2 breast cancer

You are certainly going through a lot at the moment but I'm sure you won't regret your decision. I was diagnosed 25 years ago after finding a breast lump and had a mastectomy. Because of family history I had a propylactic second mastectomy 6 months later. The Brca tests weren't available so long ago...

Re: New implants-couple of questions

Hi Brabarb and welcome to the forum. I have saline implants so can't really comment on silicone but I'm sure others will. I have had my implants for 25 years now and really don't think about them all that much. Certainly sleeping on my side was never a problem. I think at first you are just so very ...

Re: Newbie here and to cancer

Hi Jane I always say that having breast cancer is a huge learning curve. It's so confusing at first and impossible to take it all in before you have had all your tests and talked to your medical team about the results. It's natural to fall to pieces in private (or even public). I had 3 kids when I w...

Re: Biopsy results / standard procedure

We all know how stressful you must be feeling right now. It really is the pits. Lets hope that you get some answers tomorrow. I know sometimes they get several people to review test results before a diagnosis is made. This has happened to me (with xrays...not biopsy) but it was upsetting and confusi...

Re: Exercise

I am not one to advise on exercise as I need to do more myself. I have found that if you have friends to walk with, the time flies and also you have made the commitment to meet at a certain time so you don't opt out. I have done that in the past and enjoyed it but with working and friends moving out...

Re: Difficult times

Judy....you gave me the kick up the backside that I needed! I wasn't looking forward to going back to work but I can honestly say that after reading your post I went back, and felt lucky that I could. Don't tell anyone but I almost enjoyed it. So hard to accept when someone declines so rapidly....I ...

Re: reading posts

If you go to the member's pages and click on the last few pages you will see out of about 100 or so new members only a handful has ever posted (Mighty Oak is the star there!). I just had to delete some of my Outbox messages as it was full of unopened welcome to the forum messages and couldn't take a...

Re: reading posts

I do PM new members encouraging them to post but as you can see if you check the new members hardly any of them log in again to read their PM! Beats me...most are notified by email that they have a PM.

Re: reading posts

I just go to Quick Links (Top Left) and click on Latest Posts. This brings up the current ones I haven't read.

I agree...it is harder to navigate, especially for newer members who must think that nobody has posted for years!...lol

A Girl From Oz

I've just been reading the autobiography of Lyndall Hobbs. I think some of you will remember her. She was a TV presenter, producer etc and had a really star studded life in London and America. She had the most awful time with recon after having breast cancer. Makes me glad we are in Australia. Worth...

Re: Books, books, books - what's everybody reading

Always like your recommendations Judy so I have just reserved "Heart Of The Country" which is the first in that series. (Tricia Stringer) I have been reading quite a bit but nothing that really grabs me. Always looking for new authors....holidays coming up!
