Re: BRCA 2

Sounds like you are getting somewhere sweetpeas! Depending on your recon there is also the cost of implants if that's the way you are thinking of going. I have heard of patients going private in public hospitals but not too sure how it all works. I know the public hospital gets more money that way (...

Re: Mum has cancer

So sorry Rosa....so hard on the family having to deal with it all again. I know you will be a huge support to her but tough with the chemo etc. It will bring it all back to you. I hope she tolerates chemo well. Poor dad as well! It really is such a shock as we all know and a frightening time, especi...

Re: BRCA 2

Most Health Funds these days have some sort of no-gap policy setup with some surgeons (I think!) I would go into a Bupa office and ask questions. I know funds have agreements with hospitals, dentists etc etc. I go to a dentist affiliated with my fund that has no out of pocket costs for checkups and ...

Re: Day 4 Tomaxifen and nausia

Pilot program sounds interesting...let us know. You are doing all the right things by checking with your medical team but it really is the pits feeling so bad when you just want to get on with getting back to normal as much as possible. Hard when you are feeling cr*p and trying to put on a brave fac...

Re: Day 4 Tomaxifen and nausia

Hi Jane There have been numerous discussions about Tamoxifen on here over the years. I just put Tamoxifen into the search (top right of page) and it came up with 2855 matches! Lots of reading there. 5 hours of nausea daily sounds dreadful. I wouldn't put up with it for too much longer without chatti...

Re: The waiting

Just wanted to say that you are not alone and you can say anything here. I will answer in more detail later but as you can see from my profile I opted for a propylactic mastectomy after having a mastectomy on the other breast due to a BC diagnosis. As for genetic testing, as Ruth says it can sometim...

Yep...Melbourne weather is cold but I enjoy it! So much better than those stinking hot days where you don't feel like doing anything. I'm sorry as well MO that you are not feeling good. You certainly deserve a break. I love dogs as well and have a very lively smooth fox terrier (standard). He goes f...

Yes..and quite a few new members who I am sure would enjoy the feedback if they would just join in. Some of them are not new to breast cancer either so could give advice on their own experiences as well. I still feel that the new format is harder to navigate and wonder why so many join up and never ...

Re: radiation therapy to have or not to have it?

hi Judy...and welcome to the forum. It's a tough decision...and one I had to make re chemo. I had a mastectomy and decided on a second mastectomy 6 months later, so my situation was different. I spent a long time discussing the pros and cons of further treatment with my medical team but in the end i...

Hi Dibs It is great to hear from you. You were such a big part of the forum some time ago and we always wonder what happens when people disappear but sounds like you are in a good place right now which is exactly what we want to hear! Another move...wow...that's exciting...and also exhausting. Hones...

Re: WEEKEND & EVERYDAY CATCHUPS

I do understand. I think it is confusing. I just go to Quick Links (under hedgehog!) and click new posts. I find this works for me but I think someone said a while back it didn't work for them.

Try it and see how you go.

Re: Newbie here and to cancer

I have to say that I was a complete mess before surgery and felt exactly like you...no sleep...couldn't eat, manic housework etc and if that had happened to me I honestly don't know how I would have coped. I just know it wouldn't be well! Unfortunately I don't think the 5th will be here before you kn...

Re: Newbie here and to cancer

I agree....you need to see a new GP. I don't think that you would ever have a good relationship with that one after she has upset you so much. Ask around family and friends in your area for an understanding one. Mine has got me through a lot, and even now when I ask for a referral I ask her for who ...
