X-Linked ichthyosis

Has anyone ever heard about this genetic disorder or been diagnosed with it or someone in the family as a separate issue to breast cancer? Going for a genetics test very soon in relation to this gene deletion as a side thing from my breast cancer testing and am certainly researching potential links ...

Please Help Support This Cause

My Sister's and I are organising the Melbourne Breast Cancer Bra Walk. Firstly, before anyone gets scared of the idea of a bra walk. We are encouraging people to be creative and wear bras in new and different ways. The more creative the better. Skin exposure to a min. There will be prizes for most c...

Support from MP's

The women of Mount Evelyn Primary School are doing terrific work in raising funds for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia. However, their greatest work is drawing awareness to the issue. It truly is inspiring to see this group working hard for women’s health, especially breast cancer, the leading...

First Ever Melbourne Breast Cancer Bra Walk

Hi Guys, I am part of a group that is organising this first ever event for Melbourne . The event is looking to be (cross fingers) starting at Federation Square and then a walk along the Yarra, with a return to Fed Square. The event is set to raise money for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and...

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

I was diagnsoed at age 50 (2008) From age 6 to adult, lived in Ferntree Gully. I taught for 3 years in Croydon (1980-82) then The Basin (83-89) It will be interesting to see what data you get but my feeling is BC is widespread sadly. Sadly, you are probably right, but I can't help but wonder (I am ...

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

I'm 37 and just diagnosed. Grew up in templestowe but moved to Eltham 11 years ago. No history on mum's side but there is on dad's side with his mum and her granddaughter. Sorry to hear. I hope you're doing okay. You certainly found the right place to come to :) I found out that around 50 women are...

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Thanks Tracey

I think I just come up with a new question..Was your cancer ER and PR +

I'm thinking there could be a huge factor in products, toxins and things that mimic ER and that we are exposed to. Just one thought.

thanks again for your input :)

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

4/2006 when I was 53. 2006 seems to be a popular year. THanks for the info..I think I will start my excel compiling now that some data is flowing. :) Next thing is knowing what the right questions to ask..Year of diagnosis is good and where you grew up is good too. Just thinking what else is needed...

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Hi Deb, Thanks for the information. Initially, I was feeling funny about LHS..But that was because I was not thinking of the wider population. Now after seeing certain maps and posting this message, it's obvious it seems to be a geographical thing. Well, I should hold on from saying that until evide...

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Hi Gail, Thanks for your response :) That is what has lead me to want to look into this. I find it too strange that so many women get breast cancer and these sorts of things are not intensely considered. And women are getting younger and younger when they are diagnosed. What year were you diagnosed?

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Thanks :)

Early days yet and still trying to find my feet with it. I just think the more info compiled the better this can be looked at and either taken further.

I will certainly keep you updated the more I proceed with it. Currently studying as well, so will be a slow, but steady progress. :)

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Thank you so much for your reply :) I think I am going to have to start an excel spreadsheet or something..lol..I heard the stats are around 50 diagnoses of invasive breast cancer in women between 30 and 35 each year in Victoria. It would be very interesting to find out where those diagnoses are and...

Re: Breast Cancer Cluster Research - I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Hi Gail, Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it. I'm glad I am not the only one who has wondered this. Considering the ABC Cluster (I think it was around 18 or more women) I have always wondered about things. What area were you in and the other women? If you don't mind my asking. I really ...
