Re: Moving on and just checking in

Thanks everyone for welcoming me back, it is a lovely feeling to know there is a family of friends who are going through similar ordeals and coping so well. Thank you Chris for your offer of help with the Facebook site. I am seeing my Onc in 2 weeks so will see what she has to say about something ne...

Re: a good quiet pedestal fan

Ruth I don't think I answered your question about how did I suspect lung cancer. I developed a cough which was very unusual for me and I had pain under my shoulder blades. Also had trouble breathing; felt as if I was trying to breathe over a big hill, if that makes sense.

Re: a good quiet pedestal fan

Sorry Ruth can't help you with that. I like ceiling fans but my husband isn't too keen on them but we manage. If you are on ER meds the hot flushes are very uncomfortable.

You have managed so well Christine. I have followed all your ups and downs over the years and have admired your spirit. Thanks to Janette I have kept in touch with all that has been happening, the ups and the downs. Just to let you know I am still around and enjoying life.

Re: Moving on and just checking in

Hi Ruth, sorry to hear about secondaries. I was on a few different meds before I went on Femara. The others didn't work so well. The Femara completely cleared out the tumours which was good but it is not an easy drug to take; unfortunately none of them are. When it stopped working for me the tumours...

Re: Moving on and just checking in

Hi everyone, thought I would let you know I am still here. Saw a few messages wondering if I am still around. Am in my 15th year of living with ER cancer and have now gone off all meds as there are no longer any AI meds to work for me. Have been on lots of different drugs, some I have ended up in ho...

Re: Books, books, books - what's everybody reading

We are lucky in Park Orchards where I live as a couple have installed a Little Free Library outside their house. It is very pretty and looks like a special bird house with a glass door. People take a book along and exchange it for another. The little house sits on the nature strip on a post. I hadn'...

Re: You know you're a cancer patient when...

When you crack another rib/wrist bone like I did recently whilst getting our house ready to sell. Said to my worried husband, don't worry I'll just strap it up and take a couple more panadol. It worked too.

Re: Femara

Just read in the BC network Australia, on line, a report on General Research that Glucosamine,1500mg per day, with Chondroitin improves joint pain in some women taking A\I medication. The numbers used in the research was small and a control group weren't used so don't know how reliable the study wou...

Re: Femara

Thought it might help to let some of the ladies on the Aromatase Inhibitor treatment - femara, aromasin, arimidex, know that I have been on this treatment for 8 years and although the side effects, especially on your joints seems to be on going as I also suffer from arthritis it is difficult to know...

Re: Femara

I have been on Femara for 7 years. I started taking it in 2005 after developing mets in my lungs. The mets cleared up for a while but some came creeping back slowly over the last few years. My last scan last week reported my bone mets were stable. I am still on Femara and I have managed to put up wi...

Re: Lung Metastasis

Sorry to read about your problems Susan. I found using simple things like a ventolin inhaler and cough mixture which my Heart Lung Specialist advised me to do can help, especially if your lungs build up mucous which mine sometimes do. Don't worry about staying positive. Just think you are living wit...

Re: Secondary Breast cancer Forum- Melbourne

As someone who has lived with secondaries since 2005 I still was glad to hear other people's thoughts and ideas. I would encourage everyone to get the remade Hopes & Hurdles. It is available to all ABC people regardless of if you have been issued with one previously. I was interested in the chec...
