Re: Finishing Tamoxifen.....

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!  :v_happy: :v_happy: That is awesome! Not an easy road you have just travelled, because I did it too. I don't recall having any adverse effects after stopping Tamoxifen. I think it was a gradual sense of feeling better, it wasn't just like the next day I woke up and ...

Re: new to the forum -seeking advice on implants after radia

Hi! I had implants 5 years after my radiation when I had a prophylactic mastectomy on both sides. At time of diagnosis, I had a lumpectomy on left side only but elected to do a double mastectomy 5 years later. So my left side had had the full course of radiation back in 2005. I was warned that the s...

Re: Hospital this Thursday

It's not fair that you had to jump through all hoops in order to be seen when you knew something wasn't right! And what is up with your sugrgeons receptionist? Power trip. What a good man the second surgeon is to think outside the square like that and to beat the system at its own game. Hopefully al...

The heartbreak of BC when you are young

I alluded to this in another post before and have wanted to post this earlier, as so me of you will remember me from several years ago. Diagnosed age 29, 2005, full treatment inc Tamoxifen for five years. Had prophylactic mastectomy in 2010, finished Tamoxifen then waited to try for a baby. Didn't h...

Re: Hormone Treatment fears.......

Hi! I don't post too much anymore either, but I am one of the ones who had Tamoxifen for 5 years. No way in the world I wasn't going to do what a doctor said was best treatment. Everyone is different, I was only 30 when I started Tamoxifen. You wrote that you dont want to go into a five year plan th...

Re: implants nipple reconstruction

Yep, I had implants after rads. Rads in 2005, then in 2010'had prophylactic mastectomy with expanders then rads. I've posted about this before, but my experience has been positive. The side I had rads on was harder to work with, got an infection but caught it early so was ok. Pump up fills were more...

Re: Tamoxifen and Uterine Cancer

I took Tamoxifen for 5 years and in that time I had two D&c's. Just a very short day procedure. I was told that the thickening of the lining of the uterus is quite common. Tamoxifen was first discovered as a fertility booster that is why the lining thickens, to get ready for implantation. I neve...

Re: Ok, a decision has been made! Tell me about expanders!

Expanders can be awkward, one side of mine was much worse than other because skin couldn't stretch very well due to previous radiotherapy. Definitely keep an eye on the colour of the skin. Day 2 or 3 at home, mine started going a very angry, inflamed red colour on one side, and I ran the PS, he said...

Re: How did you feel after?

Hi, I would agree with the others. Do lots of reading, ask questions and even get in touch with Breacan in the city. They will send you resources/ books for free if you want to read about the whole procedure from the perspectives of other women. I had proph. double mastectomy nearly two years ago. I...

Re: Mauritius in a month's time!

Good on you!! I hope you have the most wonderful time. Staying at the Hilton, you know it will be divine. I'm sure you're going to love it.

We went to the Maldives on our honeymoon (12 years ago) - in the same vicinity of the world really - and it was beautiful. Very very hot!

Enjoy.

Re: Babies after EBC

Hi, First of all, I wish that I could sit here and type that I'm a post BC baby success story, and how I would love to be that role model for you! But alas, I'm not, and probably won't be (pregnant that is) but I guess 5 years longer post diagnosis than you, I probably do have some insights that mig...

Has anybody ever been to a 'medium'/psychic/fortune teller?

A friend of mine has seen a couple of 'mediums' (psychics, fortune tellers?) for the primary reason of trying to make contact with a cousin of hers who died several years ago, and I have been astounded by her reports of the accuracy of things that they told her, by only knowing her first name and da...

Re: Hair Removal

Nobody ever told me I shouldn't shave under my arms either when I had my mastectomy done. I've been doing it for 18 months since then, unaware and oblivious, and all is ok. They did told me not to wax under my arms after I had my first lumpectomy, so as not to risk lymphodema. I ended getting the mi...
