Re: -Tributes- What the forum meant to me!

I would hate to know how much time I have spent on this forum over the years! I loved coming on here to meet everybody and to see how much it meant to the members and especially those who were recently diagnosed and looking for information and friendship. Friday night chats were great. The time just...

Re: It seems quiet around here

A friend of mine asked me to join a FB breast cancer forum (Aust.) as she was on it and wanted me to read replies to her posts. I was amazed at how active it was. I think people search FB for support groups these days and go on FB daily and get notifications of new posts and then read and reply. Las...

Re: still miss seeing that little black cat profile pic chrismelb

No, it wasn't a BC forum, just someone on this forum I am friends with on FB sent me a FB message. I think Christine was a member of an Advanced BC group on FB but I don't know which one. In every picture I have seen of Sam she looks stunning and I'd often said that to Christine. Such a loss. I do m...

Re: still miss seeing that little black cat profile pic chrismelb

Thanks Suz...I did read the article as one of the other forum members alerted me on facebook. The article was very moving and Sam wrote like Christine, very direct and honest. I miss her and have watched Sam grow up through the forum. I did meet her briefly once when Christine was dropped off at a g...

Re: Cancer sucks

Sorry to read this Chris, even when expected it is such a blow. Tough time for Pete...with the long journey on top of all that's happened and what's ahead before he heads home. Must be hard not being with him too. I agree, so many sad things at the moment. Hope you're doing ok. Comgrats on the job p...

Re: Superficial Lump

You are doing the right thing by going to a breast surgeon. He may do a fine needle aspiration (google it!) Thats what my surgeon did. They take a sample and get it sent for path. Most lumps are benign or as your Dr. says it may be a cyst. It's encouraging that you had an u/s as if it was anything t...

Re: Mastectomy with immediate reconstruction ?

I think I was very lucky. I had the start of recon at the same time as my first mastectomy...an expander put in and 1 fill. Long story short, 6 months later I decided on a prophylactic mastectomy on my other breast and started the same procedure. I had implants (saline) put it when the breasts were ...

Re: still miss seeing that little black cat profile pic chrismelb

Hi Suzanne I really enjoyed getting to know Christine, through the forum and the many catchup over the years. I loved the way she was so blunt and would often say (and write) what others were thinking but didn't dare to! So good to hear from a member of her family with news of Sam ...such a beautifu...

Re: The best Tamoxifen brand with least side affects?

Hi sarac and welcome to the forum. Didn't have tamoxifen myself but there have been a few discussions on here over the years about it. There seems to be a lot of concerns about fillers in the generic brands. I hope you have found or reconnected with a good GP who may have some suggestions or can ref...

Re: Lung Cancer after BC

Like everyone else on this thread, I am so sorry that this turned out to be lung cancer. How did you find out you had a suspicious nodule? Not sure if you have routine tests still? It is such shock after all this time but I was relieved to read no chemo. I know little about lung cancer but I know yo...

Re: Advice for breast reconstruction BRCA2 positive

Hi Mel I had a mastectomy because of breast cancer with immediate tissue expander. Six months later I had a prophylactic mastectomy on the other breast with expander put in. I was pretty small too, so opted to go larger. Gotta be some plusses in all this! This was 22years ago and amazingly I still h...

Oh yes. After the exchange things should be fine. Long time ago for me but don’t even think about it now, just the new norm with no pain and no bra if I feel like it...lol

Re: BRCA1, tumour found - 30 years old

I found the expander fills to be not too bad.....except when my PS went on holidays and I had another Dr. I was a bit impatient and when he asked if I wanted a little extra to be put in , I thought...great, might cut down the no. of visits I had to have. That was sooo painful. Trouble is, you don't ...

Re: BRCA1, tumour found - 30 years old

Gosh....poor girl....you're getting the lot! Expanders do feel tight, but obviously should not feel as painful as you're feeling. I had mine done 6 months apart so found the healing pretty good. Some tightness is always there I'm afraid, at least for me. I did get used to it though. Have you asked f...
